Slow Dancing in Heaven
I like to think there’s some dancing going on in heaven today.
We buried my beautiful mother 32 years ago ~ and not a day goes by that I don’t think of her or feel that she’s with me.
Yesterday my father joined her in heaven. And not a day will go by that I won’t think of him, or cherish the remarkable goodness and brilliance that he was. His was a long life, lived well; the world was truly made a better place for his many blessings. We’ll miss him. A lot.
Dad, thank you, for everything. I hope you and Mom dance the night away.

For anyone who’s ever lost someone dear, I offer comfort through this wonderful poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave bereft
I am not there. I have not left.

June 10, 2012 at 2:37 pmJust seeing this Pat. I’ve been out of the country. It’s beautiful. My heart goes out to you. My dad passed away years ago. He was a mentor all of my life. He was strict, not overtly affectionate, strong and honorable. I spent a good part of my life imitating many of the things he did. My signature looks just like his. I miss him a lot.
I’m certain your dad was very proud of all you’ve accomplished, sure he thought of you as extremely talented, well written and very ‘soulful’.
Many of us think of you that way. Thinking of you today and wishing you peace, strength and happiness…………. :0)

June 5, 2012 at 9:22 pmAs always you express yourself with beauty and grace, both characteristics you inherited from your wonderful parents. You have led me to imagine my parents at one of the happiest moments of their lives, dancing the jitterbug at my sister Sheri’s wedding. It was a thrill to watch and you brought this moment to mind. Thanks, and my love to both you and Carolyn and of course the rest of your extended family. xoxo ddwIII
