In reply to Patricia Saxton. That Sears has a lot of personal significance. I was a little boy across the street in the auto-shop when I was watching a TV on which was playing what I now know were the Watergate hearings. "What did the President know and when did he know it?"

I had the same experience. I haven’t been inside that Sears since the 1970s. I ordered a pair of running shoes on the Internet and went down to Watchung to pick them up. Then I saw the mural. Like you, I was transported back to my childhood. I think this particular mural is so captivating because it’s on the highway at the foot of the Watchung Reservation. It feels a bit like the gateway to the wilderness, and, in turn, a gateway to the past.

Pat, I noticed the mural in Sears a few years ago! It is quite beautiful and quite unexpected for a Sears on Route 22. Glad to hear others notice it as well.
