A Plethora of P's / #19: Praise

A sincere compliment, a recognition of good deeds, admiration, applause… “a gold star for good behavior”, a high-five.

Praise knows no boundaries, no judgments. It can be as quiet as one appreciative word, or a thunderous, symphonic tribute. And there’s no one amongst us – saints to sinners, paupers to kings– who doesn’t benefit from receiving, or giving, a genuine expression of praise.

Praise lifts us up. Sprinkle it around your world, and high-five generously.

Yours is a valuable lesson, and an outstanding example. In a frustrating hair-pulling situation, “praise” is the sometimes the last thing we think we can muster up, but one that can really make a positive difference … possibly even “the” difference. Thank you so much for sharing this, Rand.

After working with emotionally disturbed kids when I was much younger I can attest to the fact that sometimes the most difficult thing to do is find something to praise amongst the bedlam and screaming meemees. But if you can, it’s the start of building on successes, not fighting failures. Just a thought.
